We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Public Relations Specialist to join our team and help us share our story with the world.As Senior Public Relations Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic public relations plans that effectively communicate the City's initiatives, projects, and policies to a diverse audience. You will work closely with City leadership, departments, and community partners to ensure consistent and positive messaging across all communication channels.To be successful in this role, you must have a passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of public relations principles and practices.   1. Develop and execute strategic public relations plans that effectively communicate the City's initiatives, projects, and policies to a diverse audience.
  2. Collaborate with City leadership, departments, and community partners to ensure consistent and positive messaging across all communication channels.
  3. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and key stakeholders.
  4. Craft compelling and engaging stories that showcase the City's values and impact.
  5. Monitor and analyze media coverage and provide regular reports to City leadership.
  6. Plan and coordinate media events and press conferences.
  7. Respond to media inquiries and act as a spokesperson for the City when necessary.
  8. Manage and maintain the City's online presence, including social media accounts and website.
  9. Create and distribute press releases, media pitches, and other communication materials.
  10. Stay updated on current events and trends in the public relations industry and incorporate them into the City's communications strategy.
  11. Train and advise City staff on effective communication strategies and best practices.
  12. Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  13. Develop and manage the public relations budget.
  14. Act as a liaison between the City and the public, addressing any concerns or issues that arise.
  15. Act as an ambassador for the City, promoting its values and initiatives to the community and beyond.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Public Relations, Communications, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Senior-Level Public Relations Role, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Demonstrated Track Record Of Developing And Implementing Successful Public Relations Strategies And Campaigns.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, Including The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Diverse Stakeholders And Media Outlets.

  • Knowledge Of Local Government Operations And Understanding Of The Political Landscape In The City Of Seattle.
