As a Senior Planner, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic plans, policies, and programs to enhance the livability, sustainability, and equity of our city.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and programs to improve the livability, sustainability, and equity of Seattle.
  2. Lead and manage complex projects related to urban planning and development, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  3. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including community members, city officials, and other government agencies, to gather input and support for planning initiatives.
  4. Conduct research, analyze data, and make recommendations based on best practices and current trends in urban planning.
  5. Identify and address potential challenges and barriers to the successful implementation of planning initiatives.
  6. Stay up-to-date on local and national policies, laws, and regulations related to urban planning and ensure compliance.
  7. Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including presenting plans and proposals to city officials and the public.
  8. Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members to support their professional growth and development.
  9. Utilize project management tools and techniques to track progress, manage resources, and ensure successful project outcomes.
  10. Act as a liaison between various departments and divisions within the city to coordinate planning efforts and ensure alignment with overall city goals and objectives.
  11. Continuously seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in planning processes and procedures.
  12. Represent the City of Seattle at public meetings, conferences, and events related to urban planning.
  13. Maintain accurate and organized records, documents, and reports related to planning projects and initiatives.
  14. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  15. Collaborate with other Senior Planners and city leadership to develop long-term strategic plans for the growth and development of the city.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Urban Planning Or A Similar Role, Preferably In A Municipal Government Setting.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Land Use, Zoning, And Environmental Planning.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Develop And Implement Innovative Solutions To Complex Planning Issues.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders And Present Complex Information In A Clear And Concise Manner.
