The Seattle Police Department is seeking a GIS Analyst/Administrator to support our efforts in utilizing GIS technology to inform strategic decision-making and improve operational efficiency.   1. Utilize GIS technology to analyze crime data and map patterns to inform strategic decision-making for the Seattle Police Department.
  2. Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain a comprehensive GIS database for crime mapping and analysis.
  3. Conduct research and collect data from various sources to support crime mapping and analysis efforts.
  4. Create visual representations of crime data using GIS software and present findings to department leadership and other stakeholders.
  5. Provide technical support and training to department staff on GIS tools and applications.
  6. Ensure accuracy and integrity of GIS data by regularly performing quality control checks.
  7. Keep up-to-date with advancements in GIS technology and best practices in the field.
  8. Communicate and collaborate with other departments and agencies to share GIS data and coordinate efforts.
  9. Develop and implement GIS-based solutions to improve operational efficiency and enhance community services.
  10. Maintain and update GIS databases and systems to ensure smooth functioning and accessibility for department personnel.
  11. Respond to requests for GIS data and analysis from department personnel and external partners.
  12. Participate in department meetings and training sessions to provide updates on GIS projects and initiatives.
  13. Adhere to department and industry standards for data privacy and security.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve GIS processes and procedures to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  15. Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment within the team and the department as a whole.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Gis Analysis And Mapping, Preferably In A Law Enforcement Or Public Safety Setting.

  • Proficiency In Gis Software Such As Arcgis, Qgis, Or Mapinfo, As Well As Microsoft Office And Database Management.

  • Strong Understanding Of Spatial Data Concepts, Advanced Mapping Techniques, And Data Visualization.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Both Technical And Non-Technical Stakeholders.
