Job Description

  1. Develop and implement safety programs for the City of Seattle to promote a culture of safety and well-being for the community.
  2. Stay up-to-date on safety regulations and protocols to ensure compliance and best practices are followed.
  3. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  4. Collaborate with various departments and teams to assess safety needs and develop strategies to address them.
  5. Create and deliver safety training programs for employees to increase awareness and promote safe practices.
  6. Monitor and track safety metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  7. Investigate safety incidents and accidents, and provide recommendations for prevention.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety programs and initiatives.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies, organizations, and stakeholders to stay informed and share best practices.
  10. Serve as a resource and advisor for safety-related concerns and inquiries from employees and community members.
  11. Develop and manage budgets for safety programs and initiatives.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve safety programs to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  13. Report on the progress and impact of safety programs to department heads and other relevant stakeholders.
  14. Stay abreast of industry developments and trends in safety management to inform program enhancements.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the department.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Safety And Health, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Occupational Safety And Health, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Safety Regulations, Codes, And Standards, And The Ability To Interpret And Apply Them.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Train And Educate Employees At All Levels.

  • Certification As A Certified Safety Professional (Csp) Or Associate Safety Professional (Asp) Is Highly Desirable.
