  1. Develop and lead the implementation of policies that align with the City of Seattle's vision and priorities.
  2. Research and analyze current policies and identify areas of improvement to promote equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
  3. Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to gather input and perspectives on policy development.
  4. Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal policies and regulations that may impact the City of Seattle.
  5. Communicate policy updates and changes to relevant departments and stakeholders.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and leaders to ensure policies reflect the needs and values of the community.
  7. Provide guidance and support to city staff on policy development and implementation.
  8. Conduct thorough evaluations of policies and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
  9. Manage a team of policy analysts and provide mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  10. Represent the City of Seattle in meetings, conferences, and other events related to policy development and implementation.
  11. Work with the Mayor's Office, City Council, and other elected officials to gain support and approval for proposed policies.
  12. Monitor and report on the progress and impact of implemented policies.
  13. Ensure all policies adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  14. Continuously seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in policy development processes.
  15. Uphold a strong commitment to public service and promoting positive change in the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Proven Experience In Policy Development And Implementation At The Local Government Level.

  • Strong Understanding Of City Government Structures And Processes, Including Budgeting And Legislative Processes.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Research And Analyze Complex Policy Issues, And Provide Strategic Recommendations.

  • Excellent Communication Skills, Including The Ability To Effectively Present Policy Proposals To Stakeholders And Decision-Makers.

  • Knowledge Of And Commitment To Equity And Social Justice Principles, And Experience Incorporating These Values Into Policy Development.
