  1. Conduct thorough investigations into domestic violence cases within the city.
  2. Gather and analyze evidence to build strong cases against perpetrators.
  3. Provide support and resources to survivors of domestic violence.
  4. Work closely with law enforcement, legal professionals, and social service agencies to ensure a coordinated response to domestic violence cases.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed case reports and documentation.
  6. Maintain a strong understanding of domestic violence dynamics and best practices for investigating and prosecuting these cases.
  7. Communicate effectively and sensitively with survivors, witnesses, and other individuals involved in the case.
  8. Conduct interviews and gather statements from victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  9. Identify and address any potential safety risks for survivors and their families.
  10. Testify in court and present evidence in a clear and professional manner.
  11. Collaborate with other members of the Domestic Violence Unit to develop strategies for preventing and addressing domestic violence within the city.
  12. Continuously educate oneself on domestic violence laws, policies, and procedures.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.
  14. Provide support and guidance to other team members, including interns and volunteers.
  15. Represent the city and the Domestic Violence Unit in meetings, trainings, and community events.
  16. Uphold the values of empathy, compassion, and social justice in all interactions and actions.
  17. Adhere to all city and departmental policies and procedures.
  18. Participate in performance evaluations and professional development opportunities.
  19. Continuously assess and improve investigation techniques and processes.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Sociology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Law Enforcement, With A Focus On Domestic Violence Investigations.

  • Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws Related To Domestic Violence.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Work With Victims, Witnesses, And Other Agencies.

  • Ability To Handle Sensitive And Emotionally Charged Situations With Empathy And Professionalism.
