  1. Develop and implement strategic plans to mitigate and respond to wildfires in the City of Portland and surrounding areas.
  2. Conduct research and gather data on past wildfires, current risks and potential future threats.
  3. Collaborate with various departments, agencies, and community organizations to develop comprehensive and coordinated wildfire response strategies.
  4. Analyze and assess the effectiveness of current wildfire response plans and make recommendations for improvement.
  5. Identify and secure necessary resources, such as funding and equipment, to support wildfire response efforts.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the progress of wildfire strategic plans and make necessary adjustments as needed.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, local officials, and emergency management agencies.
  8. Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in wildfire response and incorporate them into strategic plans.
  9. Prepare and present reports and presentations to city officials and community members on wildfire risks and response strategies.
  10. Train and educate city employees and community members on wildfire prevention and response measures.
  11. Develop and oversee evacuation plans and procedures in the event of a wildfire.
  12. Work with media outlets to communicate important information and updates to the public during wildfire events.
  13. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards related to wildfire response.
  14. Represent the City of Portland in regional and national wildfire planning and response discussions and initiatives.
  15. Stay informed of new developments and technologies in wildfire prevention and response and make recommendations for their implementation.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Science, Fire Science, Forestry, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Wildfire Management, Including At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Or Strategic Planning Role.

  • Strong Understanding Of Wildfire Behavior And The Ability To Analyze And Interpret Fire Data And Trends.

  • Experience Developing And Implementing Strategic Plans For Wildfire Prevention, Preparedness, And Response.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Multiple Stakeholders And Lead A Team.
