Street Tree Planting Program Supervisor

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planting and maintenance of trees along our city streets, making a significant impact on our urban landscape. - Oversee the planting and maintenance of trees along city streets in accordance with program guidelines and industry best practices.
- Lead a team of tree technicians and volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Develop and implement planting and maintenance schedules, ensuring that all areas are properly cared for and trees are planted in a timely manner.
- Monitor tree health and identify and address any issues or concerns, such as disease, pests, or damage.
- Collaborate with city officials and community stakeholders to identify suitable planting locations and prioritize areas for tree planting.
- Conduct site assessments and select appropriate tree species for planting based on site conditions and program goals.
- Maintain accurate records of all tree plantings and maintenance activities, including inventory and tracking of tree health and growth.
- Train and educate team members and volunteers on proper tree care techniques and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards related to tree planting and maintenance.
- Continuously evaluate and make recommendations for program improvements to enhance the overall impact and success of the Street Tree Planting Program.
Experience In Urban Forestry: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In Urban Forestry, Preferably In A Supervisory Role. They Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Tree Species, Planting Techniques, And Maintenance Practices In An Urban Environment.
Strong Leadership Skills: As A Street Tree Planting Program Supervisor, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Managing A Team Of Arborists And Tree Planting Crews. They Should Have Excellent Leadership Skills, Be Able To Delegate Tasks Effectively, And Have Experience In Managing And Motivating A Diverse Team.
Knowledge Of City Policies And Regulations: The City Of Portland Has Specific Regulations And Policies In Place For Street Tree Planting And Maintenance. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Policies And Be Able To Ensure That All Work Is Performed In Compliance With Them.
Project Management Skills: The Street Tree Planting Program Supervisor Will Be Responsible For Overseeing Multiple Tree Planting Projects Across The City. They Should Have Strong Project Management Skills, Be Able To Develop And Adhere To Budgets, And Have Experience In Coordinating With Various Stakeholders Such As Community Groups, Contractors, And City Officials.
Communication And Public Outreach: The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, As They Will Be Responsible For Communicating With The Public About The Street Tree Planting Program And Addressing Any Concerns Or Issues That May Arise. They Should Also Have Experience In Developing And Implementing Public Outreach And Education Programs Related To Urban Forestry.
