Job Description

We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Recreation Employees at our community centers. As a Recreation Employee, you will have the opportunity to engage with and serve our diverse community through a variety of recreational activities and programs.   1. Engage with community members and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  2. Organize and lead a variety of recreational activities and programs for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  3. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all community members to participate in recreational activities.
  4. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by following proper safety protocols and procedures.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and organization of community center facilities and equipment.
  6. Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and community members to ensure smooth operation of programs and activities.
  7. Assist with registration and enrollment for programs, as well as answer any questions or concerns from community members.
  8. Act as a positive role model for community members and uphold the values of community, diversity, and wellness.
  9. Continuously seek opportunities to improve and enhance the recreation programs and activities offered.
  10. Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute special events and community outreach initiatives.
  11. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations set by the City of Portland.
  12. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  13. Maintain accurate records and reports of program attendance and participation.
  14. Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards coworkers, supervisors, and community members.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the community center and the City of Portland.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management, Parks And Recreation, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Supervisory Or Leadership Role Within A Community Center Or Similar Recreational Facility.

  • Knowledge Of Current Trends And Best Practices In Community Center Programming And Operations.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Interact Effectively With Diverse Populations And Build Positive Relationships With Community Members.

  • Current Cpr And First Aid Certification, Or Willingness To Obtain Within The First 90 Days Of Employment.
