- Develop and implement strategic plans and policies to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Fire Department.
- Oversee all aspects of the Fire Department, including budget management, personnel management, and resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Fire Department and promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to fire and emergency services.
- Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to coordinate emergency response efforts and ensure a cohesive approach to public safety.
- Maintain effective communication with city officials, community leaders, and the general public to provide updates on fire department activities and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with neighboring fire departments and mutual aid agencies to enhance emergency response capabilities.
- Conduct regular training and drills for fire department personnel to maintain their skills and improve response times.
- Lead and oversee the recruitment, hiring, and training of new fire department personnel.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with labor unions and represent the city's interests in labor negotiations.
- Stay informed about new technologies, techniques, and best practices in fire and emergency services, and implement them as appropriate.
- Serve as a liaison between the city and the media during emergency situations and provide timely and accurate information to the public.
- Act as an ambassador for the city, promoting its commitment to sustainability, diversity, and innovation in all fire department activities.
- Continuously evaluate and assess the fire department's operations and make recommendations for improvements.
- Handle any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the city manager or other city officials.
Bachelor's Degree In Fire Science, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Fire Service, With At Least 5 Years In A Leadership Position.
Possession Of A Valid And Current Fire Officer Certification From A Recognized Institution.
Extensive Knowledge Of Fire And Emergency Services, Including Fire Suppression, Prevention, And Emergency Medical Services.
Strong Leadership And Management Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With A Diverse Group Of Individuals And Stakeholders.
