Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, residents, and environment. Your expertise and dedication will help us maintain our high standards of environmental sustainability and public health. We are looking for someone with a strong background in environmental regulations, occupational health and safety, and risk management.   1. Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  2. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and assess potential hazards and risks in the workplace and community.
  3. Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and standards.
  4. Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on proper safety and environmental practices.
  5. Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental regulations and industry best practices to ensure the City's practices are in line with current standards.
  7. Monitor and analyze data related to environmental health and safety, and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Develop emergency response plans and procedures to handle potential environmental health and safety crises.
  9. Serve as a resource for employees and the community on all matters related to environmental health and safety.
  10. Collaborate with external agencies and organizations to promote and advance environmental sustainability and public health initiatives.
  11. Stay current on emerging environmental health and safety technologies and trends, and make recommendations for their implementation.
  12. Prepare and present reports and recommendations to management and city officials.
  13. Maintain accurate and organized records related to environmental health and safety.
  14. Participate in budget planning and management for environmental health and safety programs and initiatives.
  15. Ensure that all city facilities and operations are in compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Health And Safety, Occupational Health And Safety, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Experience In A Similar Role, Preferably In A Government Or Municipal Setting.

  • Certification In Environmental Health And Safety, Such As Certified Safety Professional (Csp) Or Certified Industrial Hygienist (Cih).

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Related To Environmental Health And Safety, Including Osha, Epa, And Deq.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders And Communicate Technical Information To Non-Technical Audiences.
