Job Description

The City of Portland, Oregon is seeking an Elections & Community Education Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in planning and implementing education and outreach strategies to increase voter participation and community involvement.   1. Develop and implement effective education and outreach strategies to increase voter participation and community involvement.
  2. Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to promote civic engagement and educate the public on the election process.
  3. Plan and coordinate events, workshops, and informational sessions to engage and inform community members about the importance of voting and civic participation.
  4. Conduct research and analyze data to identify areas of improvement and develop targeted strategies for reaching underrepresented communities.
  5. Create and distribute educational materials, such as brochures, flyers, and social media content, to inform the public about election procedures and deadlines.
  6. Serve as a liaison between the city government and community groups to facilitate communication and foster partnerships for promoting civic engagement.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education and outreach efforts through data analysis and feedback from community members.
  8. Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal election laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all outreach and education activities.
  9. Provide support and guidance to community organizations and volunteers to assist in their efforts to promote voter participation.
  10. Assist in the planning and execution of election-related events and activities, such as candidate forums and voter registration drives.
  11. Collaborate with other city departments to integrate civic engagement and education into various programs and initiatives.
  12. Maintain accurate records and reports on education and outreach activities, including budget and expenses.
  13. Stay informed about current events and issues affecting the community and use this knowledge to inform education and outreach strategies.
  14. Represent the city at meetings, conferences, and events related to civic engagement and elections.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities to improve and innovate education and outreach efforts for maximum impact.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Political Science, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Community Outreach And Engagement, Preferably In A Government Or Nonprofit Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Local And State Election Laws And Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Presentation Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Engage With Diverse Community Groups.

  • Proficient In Data Analysis And Reporting, With Experience Using Relevant Software And Tools.
