- Develop and implement strategies to address systemic inequalities and promote equity within the city of Portland.
- Collaborate with city leaders, community organizations, and residents to identify and prioritize equity issues and develop solutions.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform equity initiatives and monitor progress.
- Provide training and support to city staff on equity issues and best practices.
- Serve as a liaison between the city and diverse communities, ensuring their voices and needs are heard and considered in decision-making processes.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with external organizations and stakeholders to advance equity goals.
- Monitor and evaluate city policies, programs, and initiatives to ensure they align with equity principles and make recommendations for improvement.
- Lead and manage a team of equity professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate and promote equity initiatives and progress to the public through various channels, including presentations, reports, and social media.
- Advise city leadership on equity-related matters, providing expertise and recommendations for decision-making.
- Stay current on equity issues, trends, and best practices and apply them to the city's work.
- Foster a culture of equity and inclusion within the city and promote diversity in hiring and decision-making processes.
Advanced Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Public Administration, Social Work, Or Law, With A Focus On Equity And/Or Diversity.
Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Related To Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.
Demonstrated Understanding Of Systemic Inequities And Ability To Develop And Implement Strategies To Advance Equity And Social Justice Within A Large Organization.
Proven Track Record Of Successful Collaboration And Building Partnerships With Diverse Stakeholders, Including Community Organizations, Government Agencies, And Internal Staff.
Excellent Communication, Facilitation, And Training Skills, With The Ability To Engage And Educate A Wide Range Of Audiences On Issues Of Equity And Inclusion.
