  1. Conduct thorough and detailed reviews of building construction plans to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
  2. Identify potential safety hazards and code violations within construction plans and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  3. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to address any issues or concerns with construction plans.
  4. Keep up-to-date with current building codes and regulations in the City of Philadelphia to ensure accurate and efficient plan reviews.
  5. Maintain accurate and organized records of all reviewed plans and corresponding approvals or rejections.
  6. Communicate effectively and professionally with applicants and other city departments regarding construction plan reviews.
  7. Collaborate with other city departments, such as zoning and fire departments, to ensure all aspects of construction plans are in compliance.
  8. Attend meetings and trainings to stay informed on industry updates and best practices.
  9. Provide guidance and support to colleagues and team members on construction plan review processes and procedures.
  10. Make recommendations for process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of construction plan reviews.
  11. Uphold a high level of integrity and ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
  12. Represent the city and department positively and professionally in all interactions.
  13. Proactively identify and report any potential issues or concerns related to building construction within the city.
  14. Assist with special projects and initiatives related to building construction and safety as needed.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth in the field of construction plan review.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Architecture, Engineering, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Building Plans Review, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Building Codes, Zoning Regulations, And Construction Standards.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Contractors, Architects, And Other Stakeholders.
