  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for the City of Philadelphia, including both internal and external communications.
  2. Oversee and lead the communications team, providing guidance, direction and support to ensure effective communication practices.
  3. Collaborate with various city departments and stakeholders to ensure consistency and accuracy in messaging.
  4. Serve as a spokesperson for the city, responding to media inquiries and representing the city in public events and meetings.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with local media outlets to promote positive coverage of the city and its initiatives.
  6. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of the city to identify potential issues and develop proactive communication strategies.
  7. Manage the city's social media presence, ensuring engaging and timely content.
  8. Write and edit press releases, speeches, and other communication materials on behalf of the city.
  9. Coordinate and manage crisis communication plans and responses.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in communication to continuously improve the city's communication efforts.
  11. Collaborate with other city departments to promote their initiatives and events through various communication channels.
  12. Assist in developing and managing the city's communication budget.
  13. Train and support city staff in effective communication practices.
  14. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment within the communications team.
  15. Represent the city at conferences and events related to communication and public relations.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Communications, Public Relations, Or Media Relations.

  • Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Diverse Audiences.

  • Experience In Crisis Communications And The Ability To Handle Sensitive And Complex Issues.

  • Experience Managing A Team And Overseeing Multiple Projects, With A Proven Track Record Of Delivering Successful Communications Campaigns.
