- Serve as a liaison between the city and external stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and architects.
- Review and analyze construction plans, drawings, and specifications to identify potential issues and ensure accuracy.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to project managers and other relevant parties.
- Conduct site visits to verify construction progress and ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Identify and resolve any construction-related issues or conflicts that may arise during the project.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to construction projects.
- Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to coordinate construction projects and ensure timely completion.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and changes in building codes and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and answer questions.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all involved in the construction project.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within budget.
- Provide technical expertise and support to other team members as needed.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, With Preference Given To Candidates With A Degree In Construction Management, Engineering, Or Related Field. Additional Training Or Certification In Areas Such As Project Management, Building Codes, And Construction Safety Is Also Highly Desired.
Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Construction Project Management, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting. Experience With Managing Multiple Projects Simultaneously And Coordinating With Various Stakeholders Is Also Preferred.
Knowledge Of Construction Processes: A Strong Understanding Of Construction Processes, Including Design, Bidding, Procurement, And Construction Management Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Also Have Knowledge Of Relevant Building Codes, Regulations, And Standards.
Communication And Teamwork: Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Crucial For This Role, As The Construction Projects Technician Will Be Working Closely With Contractors, Architects, Engineers, And Other City Departments. The Ability To Effectively Communicate Project Updates, Resolve Conflicts, And Collaborate With Others Is Essential.
Attention To Detail And Problem Solving: The Construction Projects Technician Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail And Be Able To Identify And Troubleshoot Potential Issues Or Delays In Construction Projects. The Ability To Think Critically And Problem-Solve In A Fast-Paced Environment Is Also Important For This Role.
