  1. Conduct vision and hearing screenings for individuals in the community.
  2. Administer vision and hearing tests using specialized equipment and procedures.
  3. Identify and document any abnormalities or concerns in test results.
  4. Educate individuals on the importance of vision and hearing health and provide resources for follow-up care.
  5. Maintain accurate and organized records of screenings and test results.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure a positive and comfortable experience.
  8. Stay up-to-date on new developments and technology in the field of vision and hearing health.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  10. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly and welcoming attitude towards all patients.
  11. Participate in community outreach programs to promote the importance of vision and hearing health.
  12. Attend trainings and meetings to enhance knowledge and skills.
  13. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  14. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategies to improve the overall health of the community.

Job Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Vision And Hearing Technician At City Of Detroit Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills In Reading, Writing, And Mathematics.

  • Certification In Vision And Hearing Testing: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Certification In Vision And Hearing Testing From An Accredited Institution. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Proficiency In Conducting Accurate And Reliable Tests.

  • Experience In Vision And Hearing Testing: Candidates With Prior Experience In Vision And Hearing Testing Are Preferred For This Role. This Experience Can Be Gained Through Working In A Similar Role Or Through Internships Or Volunteering In Healthcare Settings.

  • Knowledge Of Vision And Hearing Equipment: The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of The Equipment Used In Vision And Hearing Testing, Such As Audiometers, Vision Charts, And Otoscopes. This Knowledge Is Essential To Ensure Proper Handling And Maintenance Of The Equipment.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Vision And Hearing Technician At City Of Detroit Should Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Explain Test Procedures To Patients, Empathize With Their Concerns, And Work Collaboratively With Healthcare Professionals.
