- Conduct nutrition assessments and develop personalized nutrition plans for individuals and groups based on their health goals and needs.
- Educate and advise clients on proper nutrition, healthy eating habits, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community organizations, and schools to promote nutrition and wellness programs.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest research and developments in nutrition and share this knowledge with colleagues and clients.
- Monitor and track client progress, making necessary adjustments to nutrition plans as needed.
- Conduct nutrition education workshops and presentations for the community.
- Develop and implement nutrition policies and procedures for the department.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client assessments and progress.
- Participate in community events and health fairs to promote nutrition and wellness initiatives.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues and interns in the department.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Continuously evaluate and improve department programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with clients and colleagues.
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
- Attend relevant trainings, conferences, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Represent the Nutrition and Wellness Department in a positive manner to the public.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote nutrition and wellness initiatives through various media platforms.
- Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support department programs and services.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and superiors to ensure smooth operation of department services.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the City of Detroit and the Nutrition and Wellness Department.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nutrition, Dietetics, Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.
Registered Dietitian (Rd) Or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Rdn) Certification From The Commission On Dietetic Registration.
At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Or Community Nutrition Setting, Preferably In A Government Or Public Health Setting.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Federal And State Nutrition Guidelines And Regulations, As Well As Local Food Systems And Resources.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Provide Nutrition Education And Counseling To Diverse Populations And Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Teams.
