  1. Conduct thorough inspections of all plumbing systems within the city to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

  3. Maintain accurate records of all inspections, including detailed notes and photographs.
  4. Communicate clearly and effectively with property owners, contractors, and other city officials regarding inspection findings and requirements.
  5. Stay up-to-date on all relevant plumbing codes and regulations, and make recommendations for updates or changes as needed.
  6. Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to coordinate inspections and ensure compliance across all aspects of building construction and maintenance.
  7. Provide guidance and support to other city employees and contractors on plumbing-related matters.
  8. Serve as a resource for citizens seeking information or assistance with plumbing-related issues.
  9. Conduct training and educational sessions for colleagues and community members on plumbing codes and regulations.
  10. Represent the city in a professional and positive manner, promoting a safe and healthy environment for all residents and visitors.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge And Experience In Plumbing Codes: A Plumbing Inspector At City Of Detroit Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Local And National Plumbing Codes, Including The International Plumbing Code (Ipc) And Michigan Plumbing Code. They Should Also Have Experience In Interpreting And Applying These Codes In Their Daily Work.

  • Plumbing Certification: A Valid Plumbing Certification Is A Must For A Plumbing Inspector At City Of Detroit. This Certification Can Be Obtained From A Recognized Organization Such As The International Association Of Plumbing And Mechanical Officials (Iapmo) Or The National Inspection Testing Certification (Nitc).

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Plumbing Inspector, You Will Be Required To Interact With Contractors, Homeowners, And Other Stakeholders On A Regular Basis. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Effectively Communicating Plumbing Code Violations And Enforcing Compliance.

  • Attention To Detail: The Role Of A Plumbing Inspector Involves Conducting Thorough Inspections Of Plumbing Systems To Identify Any Potential Code Violations. Attention To Detail Is Crucial In This Role To Ensure That All Aspects Of The Plumbing System Are Thoroughly Examined And Any Issues Are Accurately Documented.

  • Prior Experience In Plumbing Industry: While Not A Requirement, Prior Experience In The Plumbing Industry Can Be Highly Beneficial For A Plumbing Inspector At City Of Detroit. This Experience Can Provide A Deeper Understanding Of Plumbing Systems And Potential Code Violations, Making It Easier To Identify And Address Issues During Inspections.
