  1. Accurately process payroll for all City of Detroit employees on a timely basis.
  2. Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax information, benefits, and deductions.
  3. Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  4. Monitor and review payroll data for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
  5. Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal payroll laws and regulations.
  6. Process and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees.
  7. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and benefits.
  8. Process new hire and termination paperwork related to payroll.
  9. Assist with year-end payroll activities, such as W-2 processing and reporting.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information.
  11. Generate payroll reports for management as needed.
  12. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  13. Cross-train in other payroll functions to provide backup support when needed.
  14. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with employees and colleagues.
  15. Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
