As the Lead Advocate, you will also have the opportunity to lead a team of dedicated individuals and help shape the future of our community services program.To be successful in this role, you must have a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by the elderly population.   1. Develop and implement programs and services for senior citizens in the community, ensuring they meet the specific needs and interests of this demographic.
  2. Serve as a liaison between the senior community and city officials, advocating for their needs and promoting their voices to be heard.
  3. Manage a team of community service assistants, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure they are delivering high-quality services to senior citizens.
  4. Collaborate with community partners to leverage resources and support for senior citizens in the city.
  5. Conduct needs assessments and gather feedback from senior citizens to inform program development and improvement.
  6. Monitor and track program outcomes and report to city officials on the impact of the services provided to senior citizens.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations and agencies that provide services to senior citizens, fostering partnerships and collaborations.
  8. Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, policies, and regulations related to senior services, ensuring compliance and advocating for necessary changes.
  9. Plan and execute events and activities for senior citizens, fostering a sense of community and promoting socialization and engagement.
  10. Provide guidance and support to senior citizens seeking assistance with navigating community resources and services.
  11. Develop and manage a budget for the senior community services program, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation of program activities, services provided, and outcomes achieved.
  13. Serve as a positive role model and mentor to community service assistants, promoting a culture of compassion, empathy, and dedication to serving senior citizens.
  14. Continuously seek opportunities for growth and improvement in the senior community services program, incorporating feedback and suggestions from stakeholders.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of the City of Detroit and the senior community services program in all interactions and activities.

Job Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree In Social Work, Human Services, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3 Years Of Experience Working In Community Services Or Social Work, With A Focus On Advocating For Vulnerable Populations.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Lead And Motivate A Team Of Community Services Assistants.
