  1. Lead a team of automotive technicians in performing repairs and maintenance on the City of Detroit's fleet of vehicles.
  2. Utilize your expertise in automotive repair to oversee and guide the work of technicians, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  3. Communicate effectively with technicians, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of parts and supplies needed for repairs.
  5. Train and mentor technicians to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date.
  6. Ensure all repairs are completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime for fleet vehicles.
  7. Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  8. Conduct regular inspections of fleet vehicles to identify any issues and schedule necessary repairs.
  9. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inventory.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement cost-effective strategies for maintaining the City's fleet.
  11. Stay updated on industry advancements and changes in automotive technology.
  12. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to technicians to promote growth and development.
  13. Oversee and manage the budget for the auto repair department.
  14. Act as a liaison between the auto repair department and other city departments.
  15. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and productivity.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Automotive Repair, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role.

  • Proficient In Diagnostic And Repair Procedures For A Wide Range Of Vehicles, Including Both Domestic And Foreign Makes.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Ability To Effectively Manage A Team Of Technicians, Including Delegating Tasks And Providing Guidance And Training.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Customers, Vendors, And Other City Staff.

  • Knowledge Of Safety Regulations And Best Practices In The Automotive Repair Industry, And Ability To Ensure Compliance Within The Repair Shop.
