- Oversee all operations and activities related to animal care and control within the City of Detroit.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote the health and welfare of animals in the city.
- Manage a team of animal care and control staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Collaborate with local animal welfare organizations to enhance services and resources for animals in the city.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to animal care and control.
- Monitor and maintain the budget for the animal care and control department.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and other government agencies.
- Investigate and respond to animal-related complaints, taking appropriate action to resolve issues and ensure the safety of animals and the community.
- Oversee the licensing and registration of animals within the city, including enforcement of regulations.
- Promote responsible pet ownership through education and outreach programs.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in animal care and control practices and implement new strategies as needed.
- Prepare reports and presentations on the animal care and control department's activities and progress.
- Represent the City of Detroit in meetings and conferences related to animal care and control.
- Maintain accurate records of all animal care and control activities and data.
- Uphold the values and mission of the City of Detroit and the animal care and control department at all times.
Bachelor's Degree In Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Or A Related Field.
At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Managerial Role In An Animal Care Or Control Setting.
Knowledge Of Local And State Laws And Regulations Related To Animal Welfare And Control.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Manage And Motivate A Team Of Employees.
Experience In Budget Management And Fundraising For Animal Care Programs.
