The City of Burbank is seeking an experienced and organized Associate Planner to join our team. We are looking for a driven professional who is passionate about urban planning and ready to take on a wide range of responsibilities. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the City's comprehensive planning efforts.The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Geography, or a related field, as well as a minimum of two years of professional experience in urban planning, land use, zoning, or economic development. You should also be familiar with the principles and practices of city planning, as well as the legal and regulatory requirements of planning and land use.We are looking for an individual who is able to prioritize multiple tasks, take initiative, and think critically to come up with long-term solutions. The ideal candidate should be a creative problem-solver with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a strong commitment to public service. Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing the City's comprehensive planning efforts.
- Conducting research and analyzing data related to urban planning, land use, zoning, and economic development.
- Creating presentations and reports to communicate data and findings.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders and community members.
- Researching and interpreting local, state, and federal regulations related to planning and land use.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of policy related to urban planning.
- Working with other departments and agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Collaborating with other departments to develop long-term solutions to urban planning issues.
- Participating in public hearings and meetings.
- Assisting with the preparation of grant applications.
