  1. Provide compassionate and personalized care to newborns and their families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
  2. Work closely with the nursing team to assist in the delivery of care to patients.
  3. Help monitor and document patient vitals and report any changes to the nursing team.
  4. Assist with basic patient care activities, such as feeding, bathing, and changing diapers.
  5. Support parents and family members in understanding and caring for their newborns.
  6. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and their families.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  8. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and patient privacy.
  9. Participate in training and education programs to continually improve skills and knowledge.
  10. Demonstrate empathy, patience, and sensitivity in all interactions with patients and families.
  11. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients.
  12. Prioritize and manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  13. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
  14. Continuously strive to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  15. Promote a positive and professional work environment by displaying a positive attitude and teamwork.
  16. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of care plans.
  17. Keep abreast of current trends and developments in neonatal care.
  18. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
  19. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during difficult times.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience In A Nicu Setting: Candidates For A Patient Care Assistant Position At Cincinnati Children's Must Have At Least 1 Year Of Experience Working In A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This Experience Should Include A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Critically Ill Infants.

  • Current Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Patient Care Assistant, The Ability To Respond Quickly And Effectively To Emergency Situations Is Crucial. Candidates Must Have A Current Bls Certification From The American Heart Association Or The American Red Cross.

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: While A College Degree Is Not Required, Candidates For This Position Must Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And The Ability To Understand And Follow Instructions.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Patient Care Assistant, Strong Communication Skills Are Essential. Candidates Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Members Of The Healthcare Team. This Includes Being Able To Provide Clear And Concise Updates On Patient Status And Following Proper Procedures For Documentation.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced, High-Stress Environment: Working In A Nicu Can Be Emotionally And Physically Demanding. Candidates Must Be Able To Thrive In A Fast-Paced, High-Stress Environment And Be Able To Remain Calm Under Pressure. This Includes Having Good Time Management Skills And The Ability To Multitask Effectively.
