Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and passionate pharmacist with experience in hematology-oncology and bone marrow transplant? As a Decentralized Pharmacist in our Heme-Onc/BMT department, you will play a crucial role in providing top-notch pharmaceutical care to our young patients.   1. Provide high-quality pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients in the hematology-oncology and bone marrow transplant department.
  2. Possess a strong understanding of decentralized pharmacy operations and the ability to effectively implement and manage them.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  4. Monitor medication therapy and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  5. Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
  6. Stay up-to-date on the latest developments and advancements in the field of pediatric pharmacy.
  7. Educate patients and their families on proper medication use and potential side effects.
  8. Collaborate with other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate dispensing of medications.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help drive continuous improvement in patient care.
  10. Serve as a resource for other healthcare professionals on medication-related issues.
  11. Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  12. Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and contribute to a culture of safety within the department.
  13. Actively participate in training and mentoring of pharmacy students and residents.
  14. Contribute to research projects and publications related to pediatric hematology-oncology and bone marrow transplant.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.

Job Qualifications

  • Doctor Of Pharmacy (Pharmd) Degree From An Accredited Institution: This Is The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Decentralized Pharmacist Position At Cincinnati Children's. A Pharmd Degree Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Pharmacology, Clinical Therapeutics, And Patient Care.

  • Board Certification In Oncology Pharmacy (Bcop): Cincinnati Children's Requires All Decentralized Pharmacists In The Heme-Onc/Bmt Department To Be Board Certified In Oncology Pharmacy. This Certification Demonstrates Advanced Knowledge And Skills In The Specialized Area Of Oncology Pharmacy.

  • Previous Experience In A Pediatric Or Oncology Pharmacy Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Pediatric Or Oncology Pharmacy Setting Will Be Preferred For The Decentralized Pharmacist Position At Cincinnati Children's. This Experience Shows The Candidate's Familiarity With The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Treating Pediatric And Oncology Patients.

  • Strong Clinical And Critical Thinking Skills: Heme-Onc/Bmt Pharmacists At Cincinnati Children's Are Responsible For Providing Direct Patient Care, Making Clinical Decisions, And Managing Complex Medication Regimens. Therefore, Strong Clinical And Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential Qualifications For This Role.
