- Develop and implement age-appropriate interventions and activities to help children cope with hospitalization.
- Build rapport with patients and their families to establish a trusting relationship.
- Assess the psychosocial needs of patients and develop individualized care plans.
- Educate and support families in understanding and managing their child's healthcare experience.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure child and family-centered care.
- Utilize play and other therapeutic techniques to promote positive coping and reduce stress and anxiety.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and progress.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and provide input on patient care plans.
- Advocate for the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families.
- Stay current on best practices and research in Child Life and implement new strategies as needed.
- Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to patients and families as needed.
- Coordinate and facilitate special events and programs for patients and families.
- Communicate and collaborate with community organizations and resources to enhance the care of pediatric patients.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as ethical guidelines for Child Life Specialists.
- Serve as a positive role model for patients and promote a safe and welcoming environment within the hospital.
Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.
Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Credential From The Child Life Council.
Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working With Children And Families In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Pediatric Hospital.
Strong Knowledge Of Child Development, Family Systems, And Coping Mechanisms For Children In Medical Settings.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Emotional Support To Children And Families.
