  1. Develop and implement utilization management strategies that align with Cigna's mission and values.
  2. Oversee and manage the utilization management team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  3. Collaborate with other departments and teams to establish and maintain utilization management best practices.
  4. Monitor and analyze utilization data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective care for members.
  6. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, changes in healthcare regulations, and new technologies to inform and enhance utilization management strategies.
  7. Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure and report on the effectiveness of utilization management programs.
  8. Provide guidance and support to the utilization management team in making evidence-based decisions for the benefit of members.
  9. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement innovative solutions for improving healthcare outcomes.
  10. Serve as a key spokesperson for Cigna's utilization management initiatives, representing the company at conferences, events, and industry meetings.
  11. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the utilization management team.
  12. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  13. Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and other senior leaders to develop and execute overall healthcare strategy for Cigna.
  14. Act as a mentor and coach for team members, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
  15. Represent Cigna's commitment to improving the health, well-being, and peace of mind of our customers in all interactions and decisions.

Job Qualifications

  • Medical Degree: A Chief Medical Officer For Utilization Management At Cigna Must Have A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Individual Has A Comprehensive Understanding Of Medical Practices And Terminology.

  • Board Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Board Certified In Their Respective Medical Specialty. This Demonstrates Their Expertise And Knowledge In Their Field, As Well As Their Commitment To Staying Up-To-Date With Industry Standards And Practices.

  • Prior Experience In Utilization Management: Cigna Is Looking For A Chief Medical Officer With A Strong Background In Utilization Management. This Includes Experience In Managing Healthcare Costs, Evaluating Medical Necessity, And Implementing Utilization Management Strategies.

  • Leadership Skills: As A Leader In The Utilization Management Department, The Cmo Must Possess Strong Leadership Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Manage And Motivate A Team, Make Difficult Decisions, And Communicate Effectively With Stakeholders At All Levels.

  • Understanding Of Regulatory Compliance: The Chief Medical Officer Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Regulatory Compliance Within The Healthcare Industry. This Includes Knowledge Of Laws And Regulations Related To Utilization Management, Such As Hipaa And Aca, To Ensure That Cigna Is Adhering To All Legal Requirements.
