Job Description

Are you a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse looking for a rewarding career in caring for the tiniest patients? CHOC Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated RN to join our NICU Small Baby Unit team. As an RN in this unit, you will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care for premature and critically ill infants.   1. Provide direct patient care to premature and critically ill infants in the NICU Small Baby Unit.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and social workers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  3. Monitor and assess the health status of patients, including vital signs, lab values, and medication administration.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including nursing assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
  5. Educate and support parents and families on infant care, including feeding, medication administration, and developmental milestones.
  6. Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring that the needs and concerns of the infant and family are addressed.
  7. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, following established protocols and guidelines.
  8. Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies in the NICU Small Baby Unit.
  9. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to provide comprehensive and compassionate care.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of patient and family information.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  14. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and coordinated care for patients.
  15. Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced nurses in the unit.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn) From An Accredited Institution.

  • Current And Valid Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of California.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nicu) Setting, Preferably With Small Or Premature Babies.

  • Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications.

  • Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills, As Well As The Ability To Work Well In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment.
