
Department Assistant, Language Services

- Provide administrative support to the Language Services department by scheduling appointments, maintaining records, and organizing documents.
- Assist with coordinating interpretation and translation services for patients and families, including scheduling interpreters, arranging for document translations, and communicating with language specialists.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all language services provided, including patient information, interpreter logs, and billing records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure that language services are arranged in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams within the hospital to ensure that language services are integrated into patient care plans and provided in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in language services and patient care.
- Monitor and report on departmental activities and outcomes, including patient satisfaction and interpreter performance, to identify areas for improvement.
- Assist with maintaining the department's budget by monitoring expenses, tracking invoices, and preparing reports.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements, related to language services.
- Serve as a liaison between the Language Services department and other hospital departments, community organizations, and external agencies to facilitate collaboration and resource sharing.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and families by responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide meetings and committees as needed.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives to improve the delivery of language services and support the overall mission and goals of the department and hospital.
Bilingual Proficiency: The Department Assistant, Language Services Should Be Fluent In English And At Least One Other Language To Effectively Communicate With Patients And Families Who May Have Limited English Proficiency.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: Familiarity With Medical Terminology Is Essential For Accurately Translating And Interpreting Medical Information For Patients And Families.
Excellent Communication Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Hospital Staff Is Crucial For The Department Assistant, Language Services. This Includes Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills.
Organizational Skills: As A Department Assistant, Language Services, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Managing And Scheduling Interpreter Services For Various Departments Within The Hospital. Strong Organizational Skills Are Necessary To Ensure Smooth And Timely Communication Between Patients, Families, And Healthcare Providers.
