- Oversee and manage the bioinformatics operations in the Genomic Diagnostic Laboratory at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and quality of bioinformatics processes and procedures.
- Lead a team of bioinformatics scientists and technicians, providing guidance, support and training as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards related to bioinformatics operations.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams within the hospital to integrate bioinformatics data with clinical and research activities.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and developments in bioinformatics and genomics, and apply this knowledge to improve laboratory processes.
- Analyze and interpret complex genomic data, and provide timely and accurate reports to aid in diagnosis and treatment decisions.
- Develop and maintain databases and software tools for data storage, analysis and visualization.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure the smooth running of the bioinformatics operations.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the bioinformatics team.
- Mentor and support junior team members, providing career development opportunities and promoting a positive work environment.
- Represent the Genomic Diagnostic Laboratory at conferences and meetings, and participate in scientific presentations and publications.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, researchers, and industry partners.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of all bioinformatics data and maintain appropriate data management practices.
- Contribute to the overall mission and goals of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia by providing excellent bioinformatics leadership and support.
Advanced Degree In Bioinformatics, Genomics, Or A Related Field, With At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Or Research Setting.
Extensive Knowledge Of Next Generation Sequencing (Ngs) Technologies And Their Application In Clinical Diagnostics, Including Proficiency In Data Analysis And Interpretation.
Strong Leadership And Management Skills, With Experience In Supervising And Mentoring A Team Of Bioinformatics Scientists And/Or Data Analysts.
Familiarity With Regulatory Requirements And Quality Control Processes In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, Including Experience With Clia And Cap Accreditation.
Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Closely With Clinicians, Laboratory Personnel, And Other Stakeholders To Ensure Timely And Accurate Delivery Of Genomic Diagnostic Results.
