
Speech-Language Pathologist - Inpatient

- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of children with communication disorders to determine their individual needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based speech and language therapy services to children in an inpatient setting, utilizing a variety of treatment techniques and modalities.
- Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, to ensure holistic and coordinated care for patients.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to meet individual goals and objectives.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support regarding their child's communication disorder and treatment plan.
- Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and develop comprehensive care plans.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest research and advancements in the field of speech and language pathology, incorporating new techniques and strategies into practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice, ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to Speech-Language Pathology students and Clinical Fellows as assigned.
- Participate in hospital-wide initiatives and quality improvement projects related to speech and language services.
- Represent the hospital and the Speech-Language Pathology department in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Attend continuing education opportunities to maintain licensure and stay current in the field.
- Support a culture of excellence, compassion, and family-centered care within the hospital and the community.
Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology: The Candidate Should Have A Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology From An Accredited University. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Diagnose And Treat Speech And Language Disorders In Children.
State Licensure And Asha Certification: The Candidate Should Be Licensed To Practice Speech-Language Pathology In The State Of Pennsylvania And Hold A Certificate Of Clinical Competence From The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha). This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The National Standards For Education, Experience, And Clinical Competencies In The Field.
Experience With Pediatric Population: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Working With Children And Adolescents In An Inpatient Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Developmental Milestones, Pediatric Communication Disorders, And Effective Treatment Strategies For This Population.
Familiarity With Aac Devices: Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia Serves A Diverse Patient Population, Including Children With Complex Communication Needs. The Candidate Should Have Experience With Augmentative And Alternative Communication (Aac) Devices And Be Able To Provide Training And Support To Patients And Their Families.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration Skills: As An Inpatient Speech-Language Pathologist, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Such As Physicians, Nurses, And Occupational Therapists.
