
Social Worker- Outpatient General Surgery

- Provide emotional support and counseling to pediatric patients and their families throughout the surgical process.
- Conduct initial assessments of patients and families to determine their specific needs and develop treatment plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
- Advocate for patients and families within the healthcare system to ensure their needs are met.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to provide updates and address any concerns.
- Provide resources and referrals for patients and families to access additional support services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment plans and progress.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in the field of pediatric social work.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and cultural competence in working with diverse patient populations.
- Collaborate with community organizations to develop and maintain partnerships for the benefit of patients and families.
- Adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
A Master's Degree In Social Work From An Accredited Institution.
At Least 3 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Outpatient Surgery Or Pediatric Setting.
Knowledge Of Child Development And Family Systems, As Well As Understanding Of The Impact Of Illness And Surgery On Children And Their Families.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team And Effectively Advocate For Patients And Families.
Current Licensure As A Social Worker In The State Of Pennsylvania, Or Ability To Obtain Licensure Within 3 Months Of Hire.
