  1. Dispense Medications: The primary responsibility of the Retail Pharmacy Technician will be to accurately and safely dispense medications to retail pharmacy customers. This includes counting, measuring, and labeling medications as well as following proper storage and handling protocols.
  2. Ensure Patient Safety: The Retail Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for verifying medication orders and ensuring that they are correct and appropriate for the patient. They will also be responsible for monitoring inventory levels and expiration dates to ensure all medications are safe for use.
  3. Provide Excellent Customer Service: As the first point of contact for retail pharmacy customers, the Retail Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service. This includes answering phone calls, greeting customers, and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  4. Collaborate with Healthcare Team: The Retail Pharmacy Technician will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and accurate medication dispensing. They will also communicate with doctors and nurses to clarify medication orders and address any potential issues.
  5. Maintain Records and Documentation: The Retail Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for accurately documenting medication dispensing and maintaining records of inventory, transactions, and customer information.   6. Adhere to Safety Standards: The Retail Pharmacy Technician will follow all safety protocols and standards, including proper handling of hazardous medications and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  7. Train and Mentor: The Retail Pharmacy Technician may be responsible for training and mentoring new technicians and ensuring they are following proper procedures and protocols.
  8. Stay Updated on Industry Developments: The Retail Pharmacy Technician will stay informed on current trends and developments in the pharmaceutical industry, including new medications and technologies, to provide the best care for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For A Retail Pharmacy Technician Position At Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Foundational Subjects Like Math And Science, Which Are Essential For This Role.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification: Candidates Must Possess A Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (Cpht) From An Accredited Institution.
