Job Description

Welcome to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to our youngest patients and their families. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support and care for mothers and their newborns during one of the most special and important moments in their lives.   1. Provide compassionate and high-quality care to mothers and newborns during the labor and delivery process.
  2. Assist with the admission, assessment, and monitoring of mothers and newborns, including vital signs, fetal heart rate, and uterine contractions.
  3. Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the progress of labor and provide support and guidance to mothers during the delivery process.
  5. Conduct postpartum assessments and provide education and support to new mothers on postpartum care and infant care.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare team members, including physicians, midwives, and support staff, to ensure optimal care for patients.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including labor and delivery progress, medications, and interventions.
  8. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as legal and ethical standards, to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  9. Stay informed about current practices and advancements in the field of maternal and child health and implement evidence-based practices in daily care.
  10. Participate in training and education programs to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  11. Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients and their families, providing emotional support and addressing any concerns or questions.
  12. Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and wishes are respected and met to the best of our abilities.
  13. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement plans of care for patients.
  14. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse - Labor And Delivery Position At Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. This Demonstrates A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice.

  • Active Rn License: All Candidates Must Hold A Valid And Active Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Pennsylvania. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Qualified To Practice Within The State And Has Met All Necessary Requirements For Licensure.

  • Labor And Delivery Experience: Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia May Require A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Labor And Delivery. This Experience Should Include A Variety Of Patient Populations, Such As High-Risk Pregnancies, Neonatal Care, And Postpartum Care.

  • Bls And Acls Certifications: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications Are Typically Required For A Registered Nurse - Labor And Delivery Position. These Certifications Demonstrate A Nurse's Ability To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Critical Care.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certification: Nrp Certification Is Often Required For A Registered Nurse - Labor And Delivery Position At Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. This Certification Demonstrates A Nurse's Knowledge And Skills In Providing Care To Newborns In Emergency Situations.
