- Provide compassionate and high-quality care to pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
- Monitor and assess patients' cardiac status and collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and document patients' vital signs, progress, and response to treatments.
- Educate patients and their families on cardiac conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.
- Advocate for patients' needs and collaborate with families to ensure the best possible care.
- Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions to stabilize patients.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as safety and infection control protocols.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and prioritize patient needs.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain knowledge of current pediatric cardiac care practices.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Higher: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse Position In A Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology And Other Essential Nursing Skills.
Active Registered Nurse (Rn) License: In Order To Practice As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Pennsylvania, Candidates Must Have An Active Rn License. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Education And Training Requirements And Is Qualified To Provide Safe And Effective Patient Care.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certification: Working In A Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Requires A High Level Of Expertise In Managing And Responding To Cardiac Emergencies. An Acls Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Received Specialized Training And Is Capable Of Handling Critical Situations.
Previous Experience In A Pediatric Or Cardiac Icu Setting: The Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia Is A Specialized Pediatric Facility, And Experience Working In A Pediatric Or Cardiac Icu Setting Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Experience Shows That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Critically Ill Children.
Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Registered Nurse In A Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, It Is Essential To Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With The Interdisciplinary Team And Communicate With Patients And Their Families. Critical Thinking Skills Are Also Crucial For Making Quick And Accurate Decisions In Emergency Situations.
