Job Description

At Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), we are committed to providing the best care to our patients and their families. We are looking for a Pathology Assistant who shares our passion for quality healthcare and helping children. The Pathology Assistant will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the Pathology department, with the ultimate goal of providing excellent service to our patients and their families.The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong passion for helping children, a great attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter and able to work both independently and as part of a team.The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field, and at least one year of experience in a pathology laboratory. Knowledge of laboratory information systems and medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities of the Pathology Assistant:

  1. Provide technical and administrative support to the Pathology department.
  2. Assist in preparing and analyzing tissue samples for diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Assist with ordering, stocking and maintaining laboratory supplies.
  4. Document and record results in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  6. Work with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of patient care.
  7. Assist with patient education and follow-up.
  8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on new laboratory techniques and procedures.
  9. Follow safety protocols and adhere to quality assurance guidelines.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
