  1. Conduct thorough assessments of pediatric patients with cardiac conditions to determine their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  2. Monitor and manage anticoagulation and thrombosis in pediatric patients with cardiac conditions, including medication administration and dosage adjustments.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for pediatric patients.
  4. Educate patients and their families about anticoagulation and thrombosis management, including potential risks and side effects.
  5. Document patient care and progress accurately and timely in electronic medical records.
  6. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in pediatric cardiology, anticoagulation, and thrombosis management.
  7. Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide support and address any concerns.
  8. Provide compassionate and age-appropriate care to pediatric patients, taking into consideration their physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and promote best practices in pediatric cardiac care.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  12. Attend continuing education and professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
  14. Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare team members, including nurses and support staff.
  15. Serve as an advocate for pediatric patients with cardiac conditions, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: A Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Anticoagulation & Thrombosis Position At Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia Would Require A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Nursing, With A Focus On Cardiology And/Or Anticoagulation And Thrombosis Management.

  • Certification: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Hold A Current Certification As A Nurse Practitioner From A Recognized Accrediting Body, Such As The American Nurses Credentialing Center (Ancc) Or The American Association Of Nurse Practitioners (Aanp).

  • Clinical Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Clinical Experience Working In A Pediatric Cardiology Or Hematology/Oncology Setting Is Typically Required For A Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Anticoagulation & Thrombosis Role. This Experience Should Include Managing Anticoagulation Therapy For Pediatric Patients And Working With Complex Cardiac Conditions.

  • Knowledge Of Anticoagulation And Thrombosis Management: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Anticoagulation Therapy And Thrombosis Management, Including The Use Of Anticoagulant Medications, Monitoring And Adjusting Dosages, And Managing Potential Complications.

  • Pediatric Acute Care Skills: As A Nurse Practitioner At Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia, The Ability To Provide Acute Care To Pediatric Patients Is Essential. Candidates Should Have Strong Pediatric Assessment And Diagnostic Skills, As Well As The Ability To Develop And Implement Treatment Plans For Patients With Complex Cardiac Conditions And Anticoagulation Needs.
