Job Description

We are looking for a highly-motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Laboratory Services team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The successful candidate will have a passion for providing the highest quality of laboratory services to our pediatric patients and will demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field, along with at least three years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent is also required. Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that quality laboratory services are provided to pediatric patients.
  2. Perform laboratory tests and interpret results accurately and timely.
  3. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  4. Ensure that laboratory results are reported in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  6. Remain current on laboratory trends, techniques, and technologies.
  7. Participate in research, quality improvement, and related activities.
  8. Monitor laboratory specimen collection and processing.
  9. Train and mentor other laboratory personnel.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
