Job Description

The Lab Manager at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a vital part of our research ecosystem. We are looking for an individual with a strong scientific and technical background to lead our laboratory operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to join a collaborative and supportive team.The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and at least five years of experience in a clinical research setting. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency. The Lab Manager must also be able to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including staff, faculty, administration, and other key stakeholders. A commitment to providing excellent customer service and the highest level of quality in all laboratory operations is essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including managing personnel, resources, and projects.
  2. Establish and maintain quality assurance protocols in the laboratory.
  3. Monitor laboratory operations to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  4. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the laboratory.
  5. Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  6. Supervise and train laboratory personnel in laboratory safety, equipment use, and quality assurance.
  7. Prepare and maintain reports and records relating to laboratory activities.
  8. Develop and maintain budgeting and cost-saving measures.
  9. Maintain and update laboratory equipment.
  10. Participate in research activities and initiatives.
