- Lead a team of genetic counselors and provide guidance and support to ensure quality care for patients and families facing genetic disorders in the realm of neurology.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and research in neurogenetics to provide the most up-to-date and evidence-based care.
- Develop and implement policies and protocols for genetic counseling services within the neurology department.
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of genetic counseling appointments to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Train and mentor new genetic counselors to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
- Serve as a resource for families and assist them in understanding their genetic disorder and its implications.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with patients and families, providing emotional support and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Collaborate with the hospital's marketing and outreach team to promote the genetic counseling services offered by the neurology department.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the genetic counseling team, providing feedback and implementing improvements as needed.
Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.
Certification As A Genetic Counselor From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Genetic Counseling, With A Focus On Neurology.
Previous Managerial Experience, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Current Research And Advancements In Genetic Counseling And Neurology, As Well As Regulations And Standards Related To Genetic Testing And Counseling.
