  1. Provide expert respiratory therapy care to critically ill pediatric patients utilizing ECMO technology.
  2. Monitor and adjust ECMO equipment and parameters to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  4. Educate patients and families on the use of ECMO equipment and procedures.
  5. Continuously assess patient response to therapy and make necessary adjustments to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  6. Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  7. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and provide input on patient progress and treatment plans.
  8. Stay up-to-date on current research and advancements in ECMO therapy.
  9. Act as a resource and mentor to other respiratory therapy staff.
  10. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and departmental processes.
  13. Attend mandatory trainings and continuing education opportunities to maintain licensure and certification.
  14. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients and families during difficult and emotional situations.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Is Required For An Ecmo Specialist Position At Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Respiratory Therapy Principles And Practices.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Credential: Candidates Must Be A Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) With The National Board For Respiratory Care (Nbrc). This Credential Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The Education And Clinical Experience Requirements Necessary For Providing High-Quality Respiratory Care.

  • Ecmo Certification: A Valid Ecmo Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (Elso), Is Required For An Ecmo Specialist Position. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Manage Patients On Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (Ecmo) Therapy.

  • Pediatric Experience: Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia Specializes In Pediatric Care, So Experience Working With Pediatric Patients Is Essential For An Ecmo Specialist. Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Pediatric Respiratory Therapy Setting.
