Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled ECMO Specialist, Registered Nurse to join our team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As an ECMO Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the care of our pediatric patients who require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. You will work in a collaborative and dynamic environment, providing specialized and compassionate care to our most critically ill patients. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in pediatric critical care, extensive knowledge of ECMO procedures, and a dedication to providing exceptional patient care.   1. Provide expert care to pediatric patients who require ECMO support, ensuring the highest level of safety and quality at all times.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients on ECMO.
  3. Monitor and assess patient response to ECMO therapy, making appropriate adjustments and interventions as needed.
  4. Perform ECMO procedures, including cannulation, decannulation, and circuit management, with precision and attention to detail.
  5. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient progress, treatments, and outcomes.
  6. Educate patients and their families on the purpose, risks, and benefits of ECMO therapy, as well as post-treatment care instructions.
  7. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and best practices in ECMO treatment, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
  8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects related to ECMO care.
  9. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care, ensuring a safe and positive work environment.
  10. Continuously assess and improve personal skills and knowledge through ongoing education and professional development opportunities.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Rn License: The Candidate Must Hold A Current And Active Registered Nurse License In The State Of Pennsylvania.

  • Bsn Degree: A Bachelor Of Science In Nursing Degree Is Required For This Position, Demonstrating A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice.

  • Ecmo Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Current Certification In Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (Ecmo) From A Recognized Organization Such As The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (Elso).

  • Critical Care Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Pediatric Critical Care Setting, Ideally With Experience In Managing Ecmo Patients.

  • Strong Clinical Skills: The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Clinical Skills, Including The Ability To Assess And Monitor Critically Ill Pediatric Patients, Administer Medications, And Perform Procedures Such As Intubation And Central Line Placement.
