
ECMO Specialist, Registered Nurse
We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled ECMO Specialist, Registered Nurse to join our team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As an ECMO Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the care of our pediatric patients who require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. - Provide expert care to pediatric patients who require ECMO support, ensuring the highest level of safety and quality at all times.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients on ECMO.
- Monitor and assess patient response to ECMO therapy, making appropriate adjustments and interventions as needed.
- Perform ECMO procedures, including cannulation, decannulation, and circuit management, with precision and attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient progress, treatments, and outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on the purpose, risks, and benefits of ECMO therapy, as well as post-treatment care instructions.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and best practices in ECMO treatment, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects related to ECMO care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care, ensuring a safe and positive work environment.
- Continuously assess and improve personal skills and knowledge through ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
Valid Rn License: The Candidate Must Hold A Current And Active Registered Nurse License In The State Of Pennsylvania.
Bsn Degree: A Bachelor Of Science In Nursing Degree Is Required For This Position, Demonstrating A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice.
Ecmo Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Current Certification In Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (Ecmo) From A Recognized Organization Such As The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (Elso).
Critical Care Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Pediatric Critical Care Setting, Ideally With Experience In Managing Ecmo Patients.
Strong Clinical Skills: The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Clinical Skills, Including The Ability To Assess And Monitor Critically Ill Pediatric Patients, Administer Medications, And Perform Procedures Such As Intubation And Central Line Placement.
