Job Description

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a skilled and dedicated Dietetic Technician to join our Clinical Nutrition team. As a Dietetic Technician, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our pediatric patients and their families to provide vital nutritional support and education.   1. Develop and implement nutrition plans for pediatric patients based on their individual needs and health conditions.
  2. Conduct nutrition assessments and monitor patients' progress to ensure optimal nutrition and growth.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to provide comprehensive care for patients.
  4. Educate patients and their families on healthy eating habits and provide resources for maintaining a balanced diet.
  5. Stay updated on current research and trends in pediatric nutrition to continuously improve patient care.
  6. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient information and progress.
  7. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, related to patient care and safety.
  8. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of nutrition protocols and guidelines.
  9. Serve as a resource for colleagues and assist in training and mentoring new team members.
  10. Continuously strive to improve the quality of care and support the hospital's mission to promote the health and well-being of children.

Job Qualifications
  • Postsecondary Education: A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Dietetics, Nutrition, Or A Related Field Is Required For This Role. Additional Certifications Or Coursework In Pediatric Nutrition Is Preferred.

  • Clinical Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Clinical Experience, Preferably In A Pediatric Setting. This Can Include Internships, Volunteer Work, Or Previous Employment In A Hospital Or Healthcare Facility.

  • Knowledge Of Nutrition And Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Nutrition Principles And Medical Terminology Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Be Able To Interpret Nutrition Assessments, Medical Records, And Lab Results.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Position Requires Frequent Interaction With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Educate And Counsel Patients And Collaborate With The Healthcare Team.

  • Certification And Licensure: Candidates Must Be Certified As A Dietetic Technician, Registered (Dtr) By The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr). Additionally, State Licensure As A Dietetic Technician Or Nutritionist May Also Be Required.
