We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Lab Supervisor to oversee our cytogenetics laboratory. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our lab operations, while also providing leadership and support to our team of talented technicians.   1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the cytogenetics laboratory at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
  2. Ensure the accuracy and quality of all laboratory tests and procedures performed in the cytogenetics lab.
  3. Provide leadership and guidance to a team of laboratory technicians, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  4. Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.
  5. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies and equipment, and coordinate with purchasing department to order necessary supplies.
  6. Collaborate with other laboratory supervisors and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  7. Stay up-to-date with current research and developments in the field of cytogenetics, and implement new techniques and technologies as appropriate.
  8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in developing and implementing new processes to increase efficiency and accuracy in the laboratory.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized records of laboratory procedures and results, and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  10. Serve as a resource for laboratory staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding cytogenetics testing and results.
  11. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional development.
  12. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, and ensure that laboratory staff are trained and compliant with these protocols.
  13. Act as a liaison between the cytogenetics laboratory and other departments within the hospital, as well as external partners and vendors.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve laboratory processes and procedures to maintain the highest level of quality and efficiency.
  15. Maintain professional and ethical standards at all times, representing Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in a positive and professional manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Cytogenetics Laboratory, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role

  • Certification As A Clinical Laboratory Specialist In Cytogenetics (Cg) From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp)

  • Strong Knowledge Of Cytogenetic Testing Methods And Techniques, Including Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (Fish) And Karyotyping

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team And Collaborate With Other Departments Within The Hospital.
