Job Description

As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing emotional support and developmental interventions to children and families during their hospital stay.   1. Provide emotional support and therapeutic interventions to children and families during their hospital stay.
  2. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and programs to promote positive coping and reduce stress in children.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess and meet the individual needs of each child and family.
  4. Educate and prepare children and families for medical procedures and treatments in a child-friendly and age-appropriate manner.
  5. Foster a supportive and caring environment for children and families, promoting a sense of normalcy and empowerment.
  6. Document and maintain accurate records of interventions, progress, and outcomes.
  7. Advocate for the psychosocial needs of children and families within the hospital setting.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide valuable input on the psychosocial aspects of patient care.
  9. Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of child development, family systems, and medical conditions to effectively support and advocate for patients and families.
  10. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of child life.
  11. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as ethical and professional standards.
  12. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide additional support and resources for children and families.
  13. Maintain a positive and compassionate attitude while working with patients, families, and colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.

  • Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Credential From The Association Of Child Life Professionals.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Children And Families In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Child Development, Family Systems, And Play Therapy Techniques.

  • Ability To Work Collaboratively With Multi-Disciplinary Teams, Including Doctors, Nurses, And Social Workers.
