
Child Life Specialist - Emergency Department

- Provide emotional support and therapeutic intervention to pediatric patients and their families during their time of crisis.
- Collaborate with medical staff to assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Utilize child life techniques and interventions to support patients through medical procedures and treatments.
- Create and implement age-appropriate activities and programming to promote coping and normalization for patients.
- Develop relationships and establish rapport with patients and families to build trust and ensure a positive experience.
- Advocate for the emotional and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients within the healthcare setting.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to address patient and family concerns and provide holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and techniques in child life and pediatric healthcare.
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide initiatives and programs to support the well-being of pediatric patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse patient populations and families.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as ethical and professional standards.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of child life services provided.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for students and new child life specialists.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Child Life Council.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Pediatric Hospital Setting.
Experience And Knowledge In Emergency Department Procedures And Protocols For Pediatric Patients.
Ability To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With Multidisciplinary Teams, Including Medical Staff, Parents, And Patients.
