Job Description

  1. Develop and implement age-appropriate interventions and activities to support the emotional and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization.
  2. Provide emotional support and guidance to children and families, helping them to cope with the stress and uncertainty of illness, injury, and hospitalization.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess the needs of patients and families and develop individualized plans for support and care.
  4. Facilitate therapeutic play sessions and other activities to promote a sense of normalcy and help children understand and cope with medical procedures.
  5. Maintain a safe and child-friendly environment for patients and families, ensuring that all activities and materials are appropriate and meet hospital safety standards.
  6. Educate and support families on how to best support their child's emotional and developmental needs during the hospital stay and after discharge.
  7. Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.
  8. Document and communicate patient and family progress and needs to the healthcare team, providing updates and recommendations for ongoing support and care.
  9. Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to provide additional resources and support for patients and families.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in child life services, incorporating new techniques and strategies into daily practice to enhance patient and family care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Child Life Council.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Children And Families In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Child Development, Family Dynamics, And The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Healthcare Teams And Provide Emotional Support To Children And Families.
