
Child Life Specialist
The ideal candidate for the role of Child Life Specialist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will have a passion for helping children and families in a health care setting. This individual will be responsible for promoting positive coping and resilience for patients and families during their hospital experience. The Child Life Specialist must have the ability to interact effectively with families and staff from diverse backgrounds. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field, as well as a minimum of one year of experience working with children in a health care or educational setting. The Child Life Specialist must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be committed to the mission of the hospital.
Responsibilities: 1.Provide emotional and social support to children and families during hospital visits. 2.Assess need for interventions to promote positive coping and resilience. 3.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide family-centered care. 4.Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children. 5.Demonstrate active listening skills to understand patient and family perspectives. 6.Educate families regarding medical procedures and child development. 7.Advocate for the best interests of the patient and family. 8.Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient encounters. 9.Participate in quality improvement activities. 10.Attend staff meetings and professional development activities.
