Job Description

  1. Accurately code and abstract medical records for critical care patients in compliance with all coding guidelines and regulations.
  2. Review and analyze medical records to identify and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and complete documentation for coding purposes.
  4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations, as well as changes in medical procedures and technology.
  5. Identify and report any coding discrepancies or issues to the appropriate individuals for resolution.
  6. Ensure timely and accurate submission of coded data for billing and reimbursement purposes.
  7. Work closely with billing and finance departments to resolve any coding-related issues.
  8. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  9. Serve as a resource for other coding staff and provide guidance and training as needed.
  10. Participate in coding audits and quality assurance activities.
  11. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance coding processes.
  12. Continuously strive for accuracy, efficiency, and improvement in all coding tasks.
  13. Uphold the mission, values, and standards of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
  14. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  15. Attend relevant trainings, seminars, and conferences to maintain and enhance coding skills and knowledge.
  16. Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the coding manager or other members of the leadership team.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-Based (Ccs-P) Certification

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Coding Experience In A Critical Care Setting

  • Knowledge Of Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems

  • Familiarity With Government Regulations And Guidelines Related To Critical Care Coding, Such As Medicare And Medicaid Rules

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Accurately Assign Codes And Identify Coding Errors Or Discrepancies.
